During last night’s meeting, Virginia Beach City Councilwoman Rosemary Wilson was re-elected by her peers as Virginia Beach’s Vice-Mayor. The election took place directly after the 5 new members elected during last November’s elections were ceremonially sworn in by a Virginia Beach Circuit Court Judge.
Wilson was opposed by Councilwoman Sabrina Wooten who was nominated by newly elected Councilwoman Jennifer Rouse. Councilman Michael Berlucchi nominated Councilwoman Wilson.
The final vote was 8 in favor of Wilson, 2 in favor of Wooten, with one member, Worth Remick, abstaining. The Virginian-Pilot reported Councilman Remick saying “I wish we had more discussion about it.”
