Excellent Educators: Sabrina Shumate from VB credits ‘love’ for success
At Cox High School in Virginia Beach there is a teacher who originally wanted to be a pediatrician. Sabrina Shumate says she changed her mind after tutoring athletes in college. She realized her passion lies with students in the classroom, but she takes her responsibility as a teacher to another level.

“When I went to school, I just knew I was going to be a doctor. That’s what I kept telling everyone I just knew I was going to be a doctor,” Ash said. However in school she learned teaching and making science fun for others to learn was her passion. Now, she has set her sights on becoming a school administrator.
