GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED TO BRING ABOUT JUSTICE, ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY, AND FAIRNESS BY POLICE, GOVERNMENT AND CORPORATE ENTITIES

“DUE THE RIGHT THINGS”  ENCOURAGES CITIZENS TO SHARE VIDEOS, PHOTOS, STORIES ABOUT OVERREACH, POLICE BRUTALITY, CORRUPTION, DISCRIMINATION AND INACTION

HAMPTON ROADS, VA-   In response to the incidents around the nation and locally in Hampton Roads, VA with regards to police brutality, government inaction and corporate greed, a grassroots organization comprised of concerned citizens, community activists, and clergy have banded together to bring about change and be more engaged in protecting our citizens.  Due The Right Things was created as an engagement platform with the public to share videos, photos, and stories about overreach, police brutality, corruption, discrimination, and inaction by government and corporate entities.

“Dr. Martin L. King said it best: “The time is always right to do the right thing”.  In this day and age, we the people have the resources, tools and technology to shine a light on government and corporate inaction.  Together, we can expose corruption, cronyism and bring about transparency, fairness, justice, and accountability for all citizens in our community”,  said co-founder, Dr. James Allen.

Due The Right Things has created an open-source data website (duetherightthings.org) where the public can share videos, still photos, and stories about corporate overreach, police brutality, and government inaction in a centralized location.  These shared content resources will be communicated to public, government, traditional and social media platforms in hopes that it will force government and corporate leaders to immediately act.   Due The Right Things will also share “DUE GOODER” videos, photos, and stories about things done right in building stronger communities.  Lastly, Due The Right Things will help citizens connect to local and state resources to solve the myriad of challenges they may be facing.

“We are due the right to vote.  We are due affordable housing.  We are due equitable treatment in government and business contracting. We are due a fair and just policing and criminal justice system.  We are due a healthcare system that focuses on the people and prevention rather than the problem and profits.  Dr. King’s promissory note that he spoke of in 1963 is still in default.  Due The Right Things will do everything possible to make sure this note is paid in full.“ said co-founder, Gary McCollum.

Due The Right Things will be a movement and a call to action.   It will establish a political action committee to support all local candidates who commit to bringing about change, implementing accountability,  encouraging transparency, and doing away with the corruption and cronyism that has permeated much of our politics.
